Getting started
What is Statekraft?
Statekraft give users the ability to track public policy and legislation in real time, using the keywords/ topics you're interested in. It brings draft legislation (bills), committee inquiries and hearings, events, and related news into one place, so you can follow what matters.
In other words, Statekraft lets you stop manually trawling Hansard, gazette notices, government and industry association websites, and news sites every day - it puts the information you need to keep pace with policy, regulatory and compliance changes in one place. It saves you time (at least 10 hours a week) and money while also improving your analysis, judgements and decisions.
The platform includes Mia, an AI assistant - named after Statekraft's first employee — and represented by a Powerful Owl, Australia's largest native owl species. Mia can summarise bills, answer questions about legislation, and help you find what you need faster.
Who is Statekraft for?
Anyone who needs to keep across public policy and changes to legislation, regulation and the rules applied to the delivery of government programs (think taxation, health services, education, export controls - the list is almost endless). That includes government relations professionals, public affairs teams, political staffers, MPs, journalists, lobbyists, industry associations, boards, general counsel, chief risk officers, academic researchers, and community advocacy groups.
Importantly, Statekraft gives individuals, not just organisations, the ability to follow specific policy areas for their own interest and/or professional development. One of our subscribers works as a general counsel to a global technology company and has aging parents who have complex needs - she uses Statekraft daily to help her in her job, and at the moment, uses Statekraft in her home life to stay across multiple Bills affecting aged care in Australia.
How do I sign up?
Go to statekraft.au and select "Try 1 month for $0". You'll need to enter your credit card details at sign-up, but you won't be charged until 30 days later. This applies to both monthly and annual subscription options.
Can I try Statekraft before paying?
Yes. Nest and Perch tiers come with a 30-day free trial. You'll enter your credit card details when you sign up, but you won't be charged until the trial period ends. If you cancel before Day 30, you won't pay anything.
What happens during my free trial?
You get 30 days of full app access at no charge. As part of getting into the app, you'll be taken through a quick start guide - this is also available to revisit at any time in User Settings. At Day 30, your paid subscription will begin and the credit card you provided at sign-up will be charged — unless you cancel before then, in which case you won't be charged at all.
How do I set up my account once I've signed up?
After signing up, you'll land on your home screen. In your first couple of minutes in the app, we recommend the first things to do are:
Set your interests — these tell Statekraft what policy topics matter to you. At the moment, as part of being an early adopter, you will be able to add an unlimited number of interests. Note the list of interests are growing all the time - if you can't see a specific interest you'd like to have bumped up the queue, let us know via concierge@statekraft.au.
Build your portfolio — add the bills, committee inquiries, reviews and policy developments you want to track. A snapshot of your portfolio appears on your home screen and your full portfolio is its own section of the app - accessible from the navigation bar.
Try Mia — open the AI assistant and ask a question about a bill or policy area you're following. Like all AI assistants, your chats with Mia help shape how she interacts with you over time; plus we're constantly making updates and improvements to her to improve your experience of the app with her.
Can I use Statekraft on my mobile phone?
Yes. Statekraft is a web application that works on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. It's designed to be device-agnostic — the same account works across all your devices with no separate download required.
Can I add Statekraft to my home screen for quick access?
Yes — since Statekraft is a web app, you can pin it to your home screen or taskbar so it opens like a native app. Here's how:
Phone or iPad (Safari):
Open Statekraft in Safari, tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow), scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen," then tap "Add." A Statekraft icon will appear on your home screen. Note: this option is only available in Safari — it won't appear in Chrome or other browsers on iOS.
Android (Chrome):
Open Statekraft in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner, then tap "Add to Home screen" (or "Install app" if prompted). Tap "Add" to confirm. The icon will appear on your home screen and app drawer.
Mac (Safari):
Open Statekraft in Safari, click File in the menu bar, then click "Add to Dock." This places a shortcut in your Dock that opens Statekraft in its own window.
Mac (Chrome):
Open Statekraft in Chrome, click the three-dot menu in the top right, then go to "Cast, save and share" and select "Install page as app." This creates a standalone window you can find in your Applications folder or pin to your Dock.
Mac (Firefox):
Firefox on Mac doesn't have a built-in "Install app" option, but you can create a shortcut. Open Statekraft in Firefox, then drag the padlock icon (or the site icon) from the address bar directly onto your desktop or into your Dock. This creates a clickable link that opens Statekraft in Firefox. It will open in a regular browser tab rather than a standalone window.
Windows (Chrome or Edge):
Open Statekraft in Chrome or Edge, click the three-dot menu in the top right corner, then select "Install Statekraft" or "Install app." This adds a shortcut to your desktop and Start menu that opens Statekraft in its own window without browser toolbars.
Windows (Firefox):
As with Mac, Firefox on Windows doesn't support installing web apps as standalone windows. You can create a desktop shortcut instead: open Statekraft in Firefox, then drag the padlock icon from the address bar onto your desktop. You can also right-click the desktop shortcut, select "Pin to taskbar" or "Pin to Start" to keep it handy. It will open in a regular Firefox tab.
I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?
First, check that you're using the email address you signed up with. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the login screen to reset it. If you're still locked out or getting an error, email feedback@statekraft.au with your account email and a description of what you're seeing or screenshot, and we'll sort it out within one business day.
If you've forgotten your username, your unique identifier you set up during registration, use the "Forgot username" link on the first login screen. This will send you to the Help form. We ask you to request your username this way to support the confidentiality of your username, which outside of billing, is the only identifier used in the app to map your interests to the content you see and can interact with.
Using the platform
What can I track in Statekraft?
Today, you can track any draft legislation (bills) of the Australian federal parliament as well as any Senate inquiry, House of Representatives inquiry, joint inquiry, routine events held in Australian Parliament House, speeches presented at the National Press Club.
We'll soon be releasing a news feature that will provide news articles specific to the bills before parliament and inquiries that you're tracking.
Over time Statekraft will be releasing additional modules that will be covering the rest of Australia’s jurisdictions and all historical business of a parliament including legislation, regulation, rules, delegations and Acts. See the Coming Soon section in User Settings for a full list of features and functions we're working on.
What are interests and sub-topics?
Interests are the terms that tell Statekraft what you care about. When you set an interest — like "housing," "defence procurement," or "digital identity" — the platform uses it to filter bills, news, committee activity, and alerts that are relevant to you. Sub-topics let you get more specific within an interest area.
Can I search for specific Bills or topics?
Yes. For bills and inquiries, there is a search bar in My Portfolio and you can also view all items currently in progress under the "All" tab in My Portfolio. For events, news and other content relating to your tracked interests, a search function or 'see all' is provided in each section of the app. Note that results will only include items currently before the federal parliament of Australia; other jurisdictions and historical data is coming to the app soon.
How do alerts work?
You set alerts based on your interests and tracked items. When something changes — a bill moves to a new reading, a committee hearing is scheduled, relevant news is published — Statekraft sends you a notification. On the Nest tier, alerts arrive as in-app notifications and emails. You can adjust these in User Settings.
Can I share my login details with a colleague?
No — each person needs their own account. Your login is tied to your username, which is what connects your interests, portfolio, alerts, notes, and Mia conversations to you. If someone else logs in with your credentials, they'd be interacting with your data, and their activity would be recorded against your username.
If a colleague wants to try Statekraft, point them to [statekraft.au](https://statekraft.au) to start their own 30-day free trial. They'll get their own account, their own interests, and their own experience of the app. When team tiers (Perch, Council, Parliament) launch, you'll be able to collaborate with colleagues within the platform on your own accounts.
What happens with the content of my notes?
Any note you create in the app stays with your username and, in the future when notes become shareable, only able to be read outside your app by those who you want to read them. They are not identifiable to anyone in Statekraft and they are held separate from any data used to improve Mia's functionality.
Billing and subscription tiers
What are the subscription tiers?
Statekraft has four tiers, each designed for a different type of user:
Nest (individual, 1 user):
The entry tier, available now. Includes Mia the AI assistant, portfolio tracking, alerts, parliamentarian contact cards, notes and events in parliament. Best for individuals who want to stay across a few specific policy areas.
Perch (up to 2 users)
Coming April 2026. Everything in Nest, plus unlimited sub-topics, batching by category, live transcripts of Speaking Now (parliamentary proceedings), real-time notifications, sentiment analysis on supporters and opposers, policy and legislation review timelines, past parliamentary business, usage analytics, and the ability to add your own contacts.
Council (up to 5 users)
Coming May 2026. Everything in Perch, plus in-app chat, voting history, collaborative editing of consultation papers and exposure drafts, Mia summaries of all submissions to consultations and inquiries, mapping of committee changes, analysis of amendments and who proposed them, and predictive analytics.
Parliament (enterprise, multi-team)
Coming May 2026. Everything in Council, plus customisable dashboards and reporting, cross-referencing across jurisdictions (including international comparisons), historical outcomes of similar legislation, and situated reasoning AI (Mia can suggest where best to influence or contribute to the process).
How much does Statekraft cost?
Pricing details for each tier are available at statekraft.au. If you'd like to discuss pricing, contact us at subscriptions@statekraft.au.
What happens when my free trial ends?
Your paid subscription starts automatically at Day 30, and your card will be charged at that point. If you'd rather not continue, cancel any time before Day 30 and you won't be charged. Your data and settings will be retained for a period so you can pick up where you left off if you decide to subscribe later.
You may be offered an incentive to stay with the app - if so, this is a one-time only offer. Once used, the app won't make the same offer in the future.
Can I change tiers?
Yes, once multiple tiers have been launched. Then, you can upgrade your tier at any time. If you upgrade, you'll get immediate access to the additional features.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel from User Settings, or by emailing subscriptions@statekraft.au. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of your current billing period.
What if I don't receive an invoice?
Invoices are sent to the email address associated with your account each time your card is charged. If you haven't received one, check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, email subscriptions@statekraft.au with your account email and we'll resend it. If you need invoices sent to a different email address (for example, to your accounts team), let us know and we can arrange that.
Is my Statekraft subscription tax deductible?
If you're using Statekraft as a work tool, your subscription is typically deductible as a business or professional expense. This applies whether you're an individual claiming a work-related deduction or an organisation expensing a software subscription. That said, everyone's tax situation is different, so we'd always recommend confirming with your accountant or tax adviser. We issue invoices with each payment that you can use for your records.
I have a billing question or a payment didn't go through. Who do I contact?
Email subscriptions@statekraft.au with your account email and a description of the issue. We aim to respond to billing queries within one business day.
How the app sources its data
Where does Statekraft get its data?
Statekraft ingests data from official parliamentary and government sources. This includes the Australian Parliament House (APH) for federal bills, committee inquiries, hearing schedules, and Hansard transcripts. The platform monitors these sources continuously so that new bills, amendments, readings, and committee activity appear on your dashboard as they happen — or as close to real time as the source data allows.
We do this under a number of global commons allowances and with the knowledge of the Department of Parliamentary Services.
How current is the data?
The platform aims to surface new information as quickly as possible after it becomes publicly available from official sources. For most parliamentary activity, that means within hours. Some data — such as full hearing transcripts — depends on when the originating body publishes them, which can sometimes take a day or more. If you notice something missing or delayed, let us know at support@statekraft.au and we'll investigate.
Does Statekraft cover Australian States and Territories?
Statekraft launched with coverage of the Australian federal parliament. Coverage of state, territory, and local government is on the roadmap and will be rolled out progressively. Higher tiers (Council and Parliament) will include cross-jurisdictional features as that coverage expands.
What about other countries?
Statekraft has plans to expand globally over the next couple of years. Stay tuned!
Meantime, if you're from outside Australia and do business or intend to do business in Australia, or have a research or other interest in Australian democracy, public policy or lawmaking, sign up now!
Does Mia generate her own analysis, or is she summarising source material?
Mia is an AI assistant that works with the legislative and policy data the platform has ingested. When Mia summarises a bill or generates talking points, she's working from the actual text and metadata of that legislation — not making things up from general knowledge. That said, like any AI tool, Mia's summaries should be treated as a starting point. For high-stakes decisions, always verify against the original source material, which is linked from within the platform.
What if I spot data that looks wrong or missing?
Report it to feedback@statekraft.au. Data quality issues are treated as high-priority tickets. We'll investigate and let you know what we find — whether it's a known lag, a coverage gap, or something that needs fixing on our end.
Troubleshooting and support
How do I get help?
Email feedback@statekraft.au or you can also use the feedback form.
How quickly will I get a response?
It depends on the issue. If the platform is down or there's a security concern, we respond within one hour during business hours. For things like a broken feature or billing error, we aim for a first response within one business day. General usage questions and feature requests are typically answered within three business days.
I want to request a feature. How do I do that?
Email feedback@statekraft.au - we'd love to hear your idea! Tell us what you'd like and why it would be useful. Every feature request is logged and reviewed by the product team. We can't promise every request will be built, but we read all of them and they directly shape our roadmap.
Something isn't working properly. What information should I include when reporting it?
The more detail you can give us, the faster we can help. Include: what you were trying to do, what happened instead, which browser and device you're using, and a screenshot if possible.
